Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process of therapy with you like?
In your intake session, I will listen to your reasons for coming to therapy, understand your goals, and ask you questions that give me a clear picture of your current situation so we can identify your needs. We will talk together about what your treatment plan will be and how I will be able to help you reach your goals. In the following sessions, I will continue to gather information about your background and current pain points. If you are coming in as a couple or with a relationship partner, I may meet with each of you separately after our initial session to better understand your individual history and how it shows up in your relationship. As we continue to meet, I will be transparent about the therapy process and welcome feedback. Your sense of safety is very important to me, and I will always put your best interest first, so your questions are always welcome.
How long will therapy take?
It is my goal to help you reach your goals in the shortest amount of time possible. Sometimes this process is relatively short, a matter of a few weeks, and sometimes it is much longer. It all depends on a number of factors. If you come with a history of trauma, injuries in your relationship such as physical or emotional affairs, a history of addiction, or years of high conflict or disconnection, the process can take longer. Healing from the effects of these experiences and creating new opportunities for safety and well-being can feel slow at times. On the flip side, most people find relief as the process unfolds and they begin to experience the well-being that comes from establishing new and healthy patterns.
What do your services cost if I am paying out of pocket?
The regular out-of-pocket fee for couples and relational counseling is $180 per 50-minute session and $150 for individuals. We also offer sliding scale fees for those in need, so please ask if this would be helpful to your situation.
